Part 2
Describe a book that you enjoyed reading. You should say:
1. what the book was
I have had the opportunity to read many books that made me think a lot. But, none of those books really made me think on such a grand scale, as the book “An inconvenient truth”, written by former US vice president Mr Al Gore in the year 2006.
2.why did you read it/why you decided to read it?
Anyway, I decided to read this book after I saw a very important documentary on TV, talking about how my country, including many other low-lying coastal regions of the world, would submerge under the water because of global warming and rise in the sea level while giving references from a book called “An inconvenient truth”.
It was a 328-page book, but it certainly was a treasure-trove of information on the climate and environmental system of our entire planet. One of the most interesting parts of this book is the side effects that technology has on the Earth, even though it has brought so much improvement to our life. The book also goes onto saying how a hundred and fifty years ago, before the invention of the electric light bulb, the world at night was dark. But, of course, technology hasn’t always been used wisely, as the book said.
3. what it was about/what reading this book made you think about?
In the book, the author also talked about his personal experiences with the change in today’s society and how it affects the world around him. But, what really made me think and also very much worried about the information on this book is that even though, we have only one planet as our home, each of us is actually destroying it, without even realizing it.
Anyway, I enjoyed reading this book, mainly because it told us how dangerous we, the human species really are, for our own good. I enjoyed reading this book also because it didn’t only talk about the deadly climate change issues, which our planet was dealing with, but also spelt out what each and every one of us could do to save it from complete destruction.
